Slowing Down and Rebuilding from the Ground Up ⛰️

New Moon Greetings, dear friends❣️

Thank you for taking the time and energy to hold space for this work. Your presence, attention, and willingness to sit with these reflections mean so much to me. I’m grateful to share this journey with you.

As we step quietly into this new lunar cycle, I invite you to pause with me and listen to the subtle language of the body, to the whispers beneath our habits, and to the wisdom that rises when we finally slow down enough to hear it.

If you could ask your body what it is trying to tell you, what would it say? What signals is your body boldly flashing to help you resolve an unresolved issue? If your body is trying to communicate something essential, how would it speak? Would it point toward an outdated habit or a long-held pattern no longer aligned with your greater good?

These are the exact questions I am exploring after completing twenty physical therapy sessions over the last three months.

I have made very significant progress with the pain and discomfort in my left hip, glute, and sacroiliac joint. But because my insurance only covered twenty appointments, I’m now working on the final stretch of healing at home. I’m currently about 90% there and feeling so much better, yet I’m pretty sure the remaining 10% is asking for a deeper inquiry into the root of the issue. The physical therapy addressed the symptoms, but complete healing seems to be asking me to uncover what lies beneath.

Have you ever had a realization like this? Again, I have to ask: What is my body trying to tell me?

I’m leaning into decades of study in Yoga, Ayurveda, energy healing, and the elemental clues mirrored in the natural world and the human body. Human beings are, after all, creatures of this Earth. We are shaped by the same cycles, forces, and energies as the ecosystems that hold us. Within these traditions are countless doorways of understanding, and here is where they’re currently leading me.

I’m first looking at my lifestyle. Like you, I’m embedded within a cultural structure I do not control. I am deep in the rat race while running full speed on the hamster wheel of capitalism and patriarchy. This system inherently creates imbalance and illness. Even though I have intentionally slowed parts of my life to stay present with what’s right in front of me, I still need to go to a job, collect a paycheck that no longer stretches far enough, and puzzle out my budget each month. There is no true sense of security or guarantee, especially now that AI is being shoved prematurely into our workplaces and daily lives.

Underneath the physical discomfort is the theme of security, stability, and trust. These are core themes of the Root Chakra. This chakra governs the feet, legs, pelvis, and the physical structures that hold us upright and move us forward. My husband and I are feeling the squeeze of the affordability crisis in the United States. We can no longer save, outside of minimal contributions to employer retirement programs. These employee-sponsored programs are tied to an unpredictable market controlled by a small handful of billionaire interests. That system doesn’t feel stable or trustworthy either.

All of my pain and discomfort have manifested on the left side of my lower body. A painful bunion on my left foot has altered my gait, causing sciatic sensations through the left glute, leg, and foot, and discomfort in the left side of my sacroiliac joint.

In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, the left side corresponds to Yin energies, including the feminine, intuitive, slow, restful, creative, and receptive aspects of being. But in this culture, the feminine is constantly pressured, dismissed, or overrun. I’m always hustling to be somewhere, to finish something, to stay productive. This endless loop of production and consumption feels like a direct assault on the Yin, even as I actively try to resist it. I can reject only so much. I still need shelter, food, and clothing, aside from the urge to continuously chase the next shiny new thing that promises happiness but rarely delivers.

Something feels clogged, stuck, or pinched in my left hip. Sometimes it hurts to put all my weight on my feet. When I walk, I’m constantly adjusting my gait, trying to feel balanced through my feet, ankles, legs, and hips so I don’t undo the progress I’ve made. I am even trying to balance the way my upper body moves in the flow with my gait.

Overthinking doesn’t help. I get stuck in my head, very on-brand for my constitution, with its excess air energy in both my Ayurvedic dosha and astrological birth chart. Perhaps this discomfort and pain are trying to draw me back down, out of my mind and into my body, and ultimately into the grounding energy of the Earth.

Do I need more grounding practices? And what about the water element? What’s clogging up the downward flow?

Ironically, we’re dealing with a clogged drain in our shower this week, and my husband will need to open the downstairs ceiling to clear the trap beneath the tub. Clogged pipes. Another clue? Maybe.

There is also an excess of water energy in the skies this month and last month. The new moon in Scorpio, the Sun in Scorpio, and retrograde Mercury in Scorpio. Retrograde planets Saturn, Neptune, and the North Node in Pisces, and retrograde Jupiter in Cancer. All water signs. All retrograde. All inviting me into review, reflection, and recalibration. These planets are asking me to examine my daily routines, my health, and how I care for myself.

You may have heard the phrase Rest is Resistance. With all these elemental and energetic whispers, I feel myself being called to rest more, slow down further, and rebuild both my physical and financial foundations. It feels like a reclamation. A quiet rebellion. Slow and steady acts of care, creative, mindful, and grounding, that lead to stability and healing.

In a culture obsessed with quick fixes, instant gratification, and nonstop productivity, perhaps the medicine is to trust slow progress. To build on solid foundations. To be patient with what’s unfolding. I’m inviting the Goddess, the Yin, the Feminine energies to flow back into my life while guiding me toward wholeness, stability, and well-being in a way that feels deeply anti-capitalist, anti-patriarchal, and profoundly healing.

I invite you to share. I’d love to hear from you! Has your body ever sent you a message that you later realized was deeply wise? Have you had pain or discomfort that pointed you toward a deeper emotional, energetic, or spiritual truth? If you feel called, comment below and share your story. These conversations remind us that we’re not alone on this path of healing, unlearning, and rebuilding our foundations with clarity and intention.

May the waters of this new moon wash gently through your life, clearing what is clogged, softening what is tense, and nourishing what is ready to grow.

With gratitude and care,
Jennifer 💫💖💫

Micro Mindfulness Practice: Rooted Presence 🌲

Take a gentle pause. Settle your body into a comfortable position, letting the Earth hold your weight. Allow your shoulders to drop, your belly to soften, and your breath to find its natural rhythm.

With your next inhale, imagine the quiet darkness of a new moon.

Let this be an invitation to begin again. Exhale slowly, letting any tension melt downward, like water returning to the ground.

Bring your awareness to the base of your body: your feet, legs, hips, and pelvis.

These parts are governed by the Root Chakra—the center of grounding, safety, stability, and trust.

Notice any sensations here: warmth, heaviness, tightness, pulsing, or even subtle whispers of discomfort. No need to analyze—simply listen.

Place a hand on your belly if that feels nourishing. Feel the rise and fall of your breath under your palm. With each inhale, imagine drawing in steady, grounding energy. With each exhale, release anything that feels stuck, clogged, or overworked.

If your thoughts drift, gently guide your attention back to your body. Draw back to the weight in your feet and the breath in your belly.

Let this soft, receptive energy flow through you, reminding you that rest is also wisdom.

For these final few breaths, visualize roots growing from your feet or seat, reaching down into the deep, dark soil—stable, steady, supported.

Feel yourself held. Feel yourself connected. Feel yourself arriving fully in this moment.

Take one more slow inhale… and a long, complete exhale. When you’re ready, gently lift your gaze or open your eyes. Carry this grounded presence with you as you move into the rest of your day, guided by the quiet strength of the new moon.
