Full Moon Greetings, dear Friendsā£ļø
Itās safe to say Iāve been feeling quite disoriented and ungrounded this Gemini season. Thereās plenty to blame for these feelings, but Iām especially looking to the full moon in Sagittarius, my moon sign, for a release and perhaps some relief. Iām hoping to release some of the tension and pressure stirred up by recent life events.Ā
Gemini season always brings an energetic buzz and a full to-do list. I naturally feel an urge to get outside, socialize, and tackle new projects as the air warms with the arrival of late spring. Thatās a pretty normal rhythm after enduring a long winter. However, this year, there are many extra activities taking place around my home and family life.
To start, my husband Bob had scheduled outpatient surgery last week. Thankfully, his recovery is progressing well, and heāll return to work next week. Iāve been able to take time off and work from home to support him and manage the household.
Bobās surgery and recovery overlapped with our exterior house painting project. The painters are working around short stretches of dry weather (itās been a very wet spring), and after three weeks of prepping and priming, they finally began painting last week. We expect to complete it within another couple of weeks.
On Sunday, June 1, the contractors taped and covered all the windows to protect them from splattered paint, just a day before Bobās surgery on Monday. We knew it was coming, but I was mostly concerned about airflow and cooling the house as summer approaches. We donāt have central air, and usually install window units during the hottest months. Thatās not an option while the windows are covered. Thankfully, it hasnāt gotten too hot yet, and Iām adapting to that better than expected.
What I didnāt anticipate was how disoriented Iād feel not being able to see outside. My visual connection to the world beyond these walls is gone. I can see light or darkness and hear the activity of the neighborhood, but unless I walk out the door, I donāt know whatās going on. It feels confining, and Iāve noticed a restlessness to be outside much more than usual.
Additionally, my only son, my only living child, is currently out of the country on a training exercise. Heās an active-duty service member in the U.S. Army, typically stationed in New Jersey, which has helped keep me grounded since he returned from South Korea last summer. But this temporary deployment has stirred up some anxiety, even though I know heās capable, sensible, and well-trained. As his motherāand a bereaved one, after the loss of his sisterāI carry more worry for him. Itās hard to shake, even when everything tells me heās okay.
And then thereās the collective unease. The relentless and chaotic news cycle that accompanies the second Trump administration weighs heavily. I recall the dread I felt during his first term and the immense relief I experienced when he lost in 2020. But this time feels different. More intense. Heās taken his party hostage and is actively dismantling the foundations of our democracy. What if he doesnāt leave? What if successors like JD Vance and others from this cruel regime carry the torch?
As exhausting as it is to witness, I canāt look away. Thatās what they want, to wear us down into silence. The idea that nearly 250 years of democratic principles could crumble under the weight of a few oligarchs is too much to comprehend. I know the Founders anticipated threats like these, but I canāt understand how the guardrails meant to protect us are now breaking rather than bending. Itās terrifying.
When both personal and collective foundations feel unstable, and when my windows are masked, itās no wonder my body is reacting.Ā Iāve been experiencing steady discomfort in my hips, pelvis, left leg, and foot for the past month. Now, even the foundation of my spine feels misaligned. This is the energetic space of my roots. Itās hard to feel safe and grounded when the people and structures I rely onāmy husband, my son, my home, my governmentāare all under strain or in flux.
Thereās daily discomfort. My intuition tells me this is more than a physical issue. Perhaps thereās emotional and energetic trauma stored in my body, perhaps some long-held pain in my pelvis, finally asking to be released.
Beforehand, I didnāt think much about how all of this might impact me, so Iāll admit Iāve been caught off guard by the intensity of feeling so disoriented. Honestly, I donāt know when Iāll finally accept that life is always uncertain, and that trying to plan how Iāll respond to every twist and turn is a futile endeavor.
This full moon in Sagittarius is encouraging me to get curious about that release. Something has to give, and I hope it can be let go with care, not under pressure. Thatās my focus for this moon cycle: with my foundations feeling a bit off, Iām first tending to those who need meāmy husband, our homeāand then turning myself. Iām listening to what this discomfort is trying to show me, exploring the steps I can take to stabilize my foundations, and gently, lovingly, allowing space for healing.

Mindfulness Prompt: 2-Minute Grounding Practice – Rooting in Uncertainty š
Take a comfortable seat or stand with your feet flat on the ground.
Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze.
Begin by taking a deep breath in through the nose⦠and a slow breath out through the mouth.
Do that againāinhale⦠and exhale.
Let your breath move like a gentle anchor in the body.
Now bring your awareness to the base of your spine, your hips, your legs, your feet.
Feel the parts of your body that are touching the earth or a surface below.
Notice the sensations hereāpressure, warmth, tingling, tension.
Silently say to yourself:
Even when the world feels unsteady, I can return to my roots.
I am allowed to feel what I feel and still trust the ground beneath me.
Now, gently scan your body for areas that feel tight or tenderāperhaps the pelvis, lower back, or legs.
Offer these spaces your breathāslowly, gently.
Each exhale a small release.
Each inhale is a moment of presence.
Feel the support beneath you.
Feel the breath within you.
Feel the wisdom inside you.
As you close this brief practice, place a hand on your heart or your belly.
Silently say: May I be grounded, may I be safe, may I be whole.
And when you’re ready, gently open your eyes.
